Zoetrope Virtual Studios

I can’t believe I’m only finding out about this now; the only conceivable excuse is that I tend to be more of a print than an online reader. But this is too amazing not to share. Zoetrope Virtual Studios gives writers an opportunity to have their work reviewed by other writers, for free. What brings all the writers together on this site is the desire to submit work electronically to Zoetrope: All-Story and related Coppola projects. The catch is, you can’t submit a piece to the Coppola e-complex without writing critiques of five other submissions from the same genre. That requirement completely eliminates freeloading, and it all but guarantees that your submission will receive a review from somebody.

Best of all, the list of top-rated (as ‘most useful’) reviewers in my chosen genres includes little-known writers whose work I have encountered here and there and who I respect a lot, people like John Warner, Roy Kesey, Kuzhali Manickavel, Utahna Faith, and Avital Gad-Cykman. That’s just five, my personal stars-at-a-glance among lots of names I’m sure I’ve seen before.

I guess I’ll start reviewing this afternoon so I can submit something over the weekend!
